School Procedures

School commences at 9.20a.m. 

All doors open at 9.15a.m and close at 9.45a.m.  A security system is in place.  Should you need to gain access to school after 9.45a.m please ring bell located on the main door in the front entrance hall for assistance. 

School Finishes

(a)        2pm                Junior Infants & Senior Infants

(b)       3pm                1st Class – 6th Class

Please note the following:-

  • No child should be brought to the school building and left unsupervised before 9.05a.m. No responsibility is accepted for pupils who arrive before 9.05a.m. 
  • Parents are asked not to use the school carpark between 8.30a.m. and 4.30p.m.
  • Please use the door which is allocated for your child’s class.
  • Pupils should enjoy their break-times.  They should avoid rough play which may cause injury to others.  Bullying and/or bad language will not be tolerated.
  • Four teachers and all the Special Needs Assistants are on supervision during break-times 11a.m. and 12.45p.m. – 1.15p.m.
  • Children must walk to and from the play area in single file.

At 11.00am: Rooms 2, 3 & 4 go in single file to the play area through the main entrance. 

At 11.00a.m. and 12.45p.m.: Rooms 5, 6, 7 & 8 go in single file to play area through back entrance.

At 11.00a.m. and 12.45p.m.: Rooms  9, 10, 11 & 12 go in single file to play area through main entrance.

At 11.00a.m. and 12.45p.m.: Rooms 13, 14, 15 & 16 go in single file to play area through the back entrance.

When the bell rings pupils line up promptly and return to classrooms in single file/supervised by teachers and S.N.A.s on duty. All class teachers collect children at the respective entrances allocated to their classes and escort them back to the classroom. 

When school finishes the following applies:

At  2.00p.m.

  • Rooms 2 & 3 are collected at the main entrance

At  2.00p.m.

  • Rooms 4 & 5 is collected at the rear entrance

At  3.00p.m.

  • Room,6, 7 & 8 are collected at the rear entrance
  • Rooms 9, 10 & 11 go out through the main entrance
  • Rooms 13, 14, 15 & 16 go out through the rear entrance

  •  No child is allowed to leave the school premises during school hours without
  • parent/guardian permission.  Parents/guardians, relatives, or carers whose names have been already notified in writing to the school must call to the school in person to collect children.
  • Any person taking a child from the school during the day for any reason must inform the child’s teacher or the teacher on duty, or the Principal or the school secretary and sign out in the book in the reception area.
  • No child will be released into the care of anybody whose name has not been supplied to the school in a written note or form signed by the parent/guardian consenting to the child being released into that person’s care.
  • Mobile phones may not be used by children in school.
  • In the case of children travelling by bus the school cannot accept responsibility for escorting them from the bus to the school or from the school to the bus. 
  • The school cannot accept responsibility for looking after children after 3p.m.  It is necessary that you arrange to collect your child at 3p.m unless she is involved in an after school activity organised by an authorised member of staff.  It is necessary that you arrange collection of your child at 4p.m. at the school on completion of the after school activity.
  • In the event of moving house please notify the school of change of address and/or change of telephone numbers. 
  • In the event of changing mobiles please notify the school of change of mobile number. 
  • If you wish to speak with a class teacher please make an appointment through the school secretary or principal

Teachers may not leave the class unattended during school hours to have a discussion with a parent, so a prior appointment must be made through the school secretary.
